26 Nov 2025 – FOR SALE: SIGNED BOOK AND KNOB ON EBAY
“Black Friday Specials” – a combination of a signed copy of The CW Way of Life and a custom “Navy Knob” with either a solid or slotted guard disk for the knob (while supplies last). I made the knobs for a trade show – and these left-overs have sat next to my desk doing no one any good. But I’m not in the knob business, so I decided to offer a combo – signed book and knob as a special one-time package – for $39.95 including shipping in the USA. The two versions can be seen at the links below.

26 Nov 2025 – FOR SALE: RSGB Publishes The Practical Telegraphist
My translation of The Practical Telegraphist has been published in hard copy by the RSGB (Radio Society of Great Britain) and is available in their store in the link below. I ordered a copy for myself but haven’t received it as of Dec 3, 2025 :-) I believe hard copies of research materials are of value (and shipping from the UK is expensive!), so at some point I may publish this myself on Amazon. The Practical Telegraphist – RSGB link.

- The Practical Telegraphist by Clemens Gerke -1851 (r11)
- The Musical Roots of Morse Code by Chris Rutkowski
Although written in 1850, Gerke’s book is far from a dusty old volume of interest only to historians. It contains numerous passages of practical relevance to today’s Morse operator. We discover that Gerke was explicitly aware of Morse’s musical nature and the importance of its rhythms to operators. To highlight this remarkable material, Chris extracted and annotated the most relevant sections in this paper.
